Spyderco Military Discount - Introduced in 1996, the Spyderco Military remains a popular (if somewhat controversial) model to this day. The Military is Sal Glesser's answer to the question, "If your child were to join the military, what knife would you give him?" The Spyderco Military seems to be a love it or hate it knife, people seem to either absolutely love it or absolutely hate it.

Those who love the Military, often nicknamed by fans of "Millie", tend to be fanatics. I could go so far as to call myself a fanatic as I currently have four different armies…

But I didn't see the Soldier as my favorite knife the moment I held it, I threw it away as soon as I felt it in my hand. As I grew as a knife enthusiast, my opinion changed and I fell in love with this mammoth knife. I hope to change the minds of the naysayers and open them up to what I believe is a very good knife.

We all have things that draw us to knives, certain functions or characteristics. Some designs just speak to us and some knives are difficult and sometimes we can't explain why we like a knife.

Sometimes even different versions of a knife will speak to me more than others, Spyderco is notorious for making us buy the same knife over and over because they always seem to release our favorite knives with new steels and different handle and from above. all of these make up a limited number and don't make this run anymore. Some may think that having multiple knives is crazy, and that may be true, but it doesn't bother me that much.

For me, different versions have their strengths and weaknesses, each has its own style and character. I choose my knife on the day like most people choose their clothes, it's not just a knife but an accessory. It's part of who I am and I always try to poke myself.

The Spyderco Soldier is often, in my opinion, one of Spyderco's most dismissed models. Maybe it's the size or the use of a liner lock, but most of the reason people don't like the Spyderco Military is that it just carries stuff.

When I tried the Military I liked that many others rejected it in favor of the Paramilitary 2 which at the time was the first and only Spyderco. I don't understand why anyone would want the military when you can just get the Paramilitary 2, it seems superior in every way between the four position pocket clip, compression lock, size and blade handle (like a range. Spyderco's soldiers fought hard).

That being said, the Spyderco Military is one of my favorite knives at the moment and I hope that it can open others eyes to the beauty of this knife and help them see the unethical hate. The online fair for this knife.

When I first got my hands on the Spyderco Soldier, it wasn't the knife for me. I didn't like it at all. I am only at the beginning of my knife journey and am very green.

Everything I know about the knife I learned from the internet and everyone knows it works well. I firmly thought the blade was junk, the liner lock was not fit for junk, the blade was supposed to be spring, and any steel less than CPM S30V was terrible.

All embarrassing beliefs look back on what I've learned over the years. So, unfortunately, I went to see the Soldier with all my faith which puts the knife at a huge disadvantage. T

When I first held it, I found it large and unwieldy, with a ratio that didn't make much sense (there's more handle than necessary for the length of the blade, at half an inch or more in my opinion).

At the time I thought the top end was the only way to carry and that carrying the bottom end was just plain stupid.

But as I progressed and learned more about knives, my taste and what I looked for in a knife began to change. I started carrying larger manual folders. I currently have knives between 3.5 inches and 4.0 inches.

So the fact that the Army is so huge is not a problem for me. The whole reason I decided to try one was because I had 3 Para and 2 Paramilitary and felt I needed at least one soldier to complete my collection.

I ended up getting a Knifeworks Exclusive Military in titanium/carbon fiber with S90V steel. I really like this knife, the handle that once didn't fit in my hand felt like a glove. Since I spend a lot of time working with Mechanix's gloves, I really like the large handle, I don't feel like my hand is hanging off the end of the knife or creeping up to the edge.

The large handle combined with the thumb ramp created by the spydie hole provides a very secure grip at a very natural wrist angle. People often complain about the liner lock that Spyderco uses in the military. They ask why they couldn't install a compression lock like they did with the Paramilitary 2 and Para 3.

I've had the same idea for a long time, actually. But when I started using the liner lock, I found it easier to work with gloves than the compression lock.

Spyderco Military came from the steel ATS-34 and later moved to the CPM 440V in the late 90s. It wasn't until 2004 that Spyderco started building their classic military model with the very popular CPM S30V, which is a very good steel in my opinion.

Today, Military comes in a variety of options when it comes to steel, materials and colors. This is the main reason I love Spyderco, they offer so many options that people can find a model that suits their taste and personality.

The price ranges between $180-$220 depending on the model, but it is possible to find this beauty in the $120 range on the secondary market. Therefore, this knife is a smaller investment than many other knives.

In my opinion, this knife is less of an everyday carry (EDC) knife and more of a work/tactical knife. That said, I still EDC this knife because I really like it. Some of the features of this knife make EDC a bit more difficult, firstly this knife is flat only and this is a big deal breaker for some, but for me it's not a problem.

The fact that this knife doesn't really hold a deep pocket clip is kind of a problem for me. The clip on the Military makes about ¾” stick out of your pocket. Now when I'm at work or in uniform it's not a problem, but I'm not around people who would be nervous because I have a knife.

But sometimes I'm in a place where people with knives are frowned upon, and on those occasions I usually choose a knife that's a little more stealthy. But having a small knife sticking out of you makes it easy to take it out of your pocket (especially when you're wearing gloves!).

I may be surprised to say this, but I really like the low end of the Spyderco Soldier. I'm not saying I plan to change all knives, I'm just saying I like it in the military.

Due to the length of the soldier (9.5 inches long and 5 inches closed) I think it would be more difficult to pull the soldier out of the pocket if there was a tip. You almost had to pull the knife out of your pocket, stick your hand into Spydie's hole, and then insert the blade.

The Spyderco Military Is Woefully Under Appreciated.

But when the tip is down, all I have to do is stick my hand in my pocket (I usually point to the spy hole with my thumb or middle finger), then I pull out the knife and throw it into my hand. hand (while holding my finger on the spyhole) sets the blade.

Also, you can always use the "Spydie Flick" to open the knife, all you have to do is take the knife out of your pocket through the large 14mm spy hole and press your hand and it will open the knife.

I really don't understand why people are crazy about tip-down regimens. maybe
